Stephen Hill - Director

Stephen is an award winning architect with a wealth of experience. He has led the design and delivery of a wide range of different types of building set up Stephen Hill Architects in 2012.
Before setting up his own practice Stephen was an Architect Director for major international practice BDP. Whilst there he led the design of many of major projects including; schools, universities, court buildings, offices, fire stations and an ice centre.
Stephen has particular expertise in the design of educational buildings. He led the RIBA award winning £100m expansion of the University of York campus. Stephen Hill Architects continues to work with the University. Stephen also led the design of a number of schools and, over the last five years, he has been a Design Advisor for the Department of Education on over 30 schools.
After qualifying at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, Stephen worked with leading London based practice, Michael Squire Associates. He was project architect for major residential developments and also worked on a several high quality commercial office projects. Following this he moved to Lisbon to work with a leading Portuguese practice, Sua Kay Arquitectos, where he led the design of a number of high specification office buildings.
Stephen is a highly qualified and experienced practitioner. He has also been an external examiner for Leeds Beckett University. Stephen was chair of the judging panel for the Yorkshire Region 2019 RIBA Awards.
