New Teaching Building

Feasibility Study, University of York
The University of York identified a shortfall of teaching space across a number of its faculties. Stephen Hill Architects were engaged to formulate the project brief. This included facilitating a workshop with a wide, complex, range of stakeholders, to establish their spatial and operational needs.
A feasibility study was undertaken. This addressed both the buildings relationship to its wider context and the relationships between the internal spaces. Simple computer generated massing studies were used to illustrate alternative solutions. This study formed the basis of the brief used for procuring the project.
